They are not ghosts, spirits, nightmare hags or creatures. They are dark, humanoid shapes that appear at bedsides at night, and other locations. Sometimes they appear during the daylight. They seem to possess independent intelligence and awareness. Who are the Shadow People, and what are they doing in our world?

hello, about a year ago my son was sleeping in his room when he was jerked awake by a shadow person. he says that it held him in some sort of arrest where he couldnt move speak only forced to stare at the shadow for 4 or 5 seconds. then he says it swooshed under his bed like a speeding bullet.

When I was a teenager in high school we lived up on a granite hill in a newly built house. I would come home from school, and at the top of the stairs there was a shadow dog. The upstairs was loft style and over looked the whole house especially the front door.
When I got home I would always look up, and almost every day the shadow dog would be there.
From the body conformity I could tell that it was a labrador retriever. It never tried to dodge out of sight like the other shadow beings. It was as thought the shadow dog was waiting for me to get home safely. When I looked back up he (I felt that it was a he) would be gone as though he was satisfied that I had made it home.
I always felt safe with him there.
The shadowbeings have never frightened me. I miss that shadow dog though…

Experience with shadow people has been frightening, and nearly drove me insane.
There was a lot of discord at a location where I lived, when I moved the shadow people disappeared.
Shadow people I encountered were male, seemed to be bald. Would look around corners, duck away when I directly looked at them. I was always frightened, and at times doubted my sanity.
This is all I can remember, I don’t want to think of them because I don’t want them back!

I live in a house over a 100 years old and i have seen a large shadow person moving very fast past the end of my bed at about 12:00 at night, i jumped about 3 feet off the bed and my wife saw it also! you could see a very large outline of a man! It was very fast!Cleburne, Texas!

I think the year was 1972. I got up sometime during the night to use the bathroom. Walking through my bedroom, into the kitchen toward the bathroom door I stopped suddenly and just stared surprised. About eight feet from me in the darkness was a figure, tall and broad-shouldered (T-shaped) blocking the
path to the door. I walked calmly back to my bedroom foregoing my “bathroom call”, and tried to digest what I had just experienced. I felt neither afraid or amused but rather in denial, even though I know I saw it. “It” didn’t appear again.

My son came to me and told me he was sitting in the loungeroom when he seen a man that had no face he said it was grey and kinda see through and wearing a top hat and a suit and carrying a suitcase he said he seen it in the corner of his eye but when he turned to have a better look it disappeared it gave me chills when he told me so I searched on google ghost with top hat and it seems to be very common I was quite suprised by the amount of storys I found

One of my experiences with shadow people took place a couple of years ago. It was fairly late and very dark in my room. I thought perhaps that what I was seeing was due to a lack of sleep, but I was wrong. To the right of my bed – about 7 feet away – was my bedroom door, that’s where I saw what appeared to be the silhouette of a tall man. The figure sort of stood there for a few seconds and then started to pace along the side of the bedroom wall. This went on for at least a couple of minutes until I whispered to it “are you gonna do this all night?” At that moment, the figure stopped moving and appeared to be facing me. Then, after about 30 seconds, the figure started to pace again! It did this for about another minute then disappeared.

Just the other night I was up a bit late working on some class work. It was about 11:30pm when I headed off to bed. Upon walking down the hallway I turned to my right to enter my bedroom. There was a dark shadow next to my closet gazing down at my bed. It scared me as I thought it was my husband playing a joke on me. I threw up my hands to keep from running into it only to hit the bedroom light and see nothing. My husband was sleeping in bed without a cause. He didn’t even stir when the light came on. I was so scattered and scared I had to check out my entire room before turning off the light. What is your opinion on this???

I’m from the UK and not far from my house is a forest called swinley forest, it is a lovely place and even when i walk through it at night i never feel fearful which is more than can be said for the streets! but in order to get into the forest you have to cross a very dangerous and fast road but before the road your in another small set of woods and this area has never really felt right its so old so all sorts potentually could of happened there but anyway one night it was particularly dark and me and a friend were walking down the path through the woodland (no the forest) when i thought he had stopped, i felt him standing next to me, you know how you sense when your with someone, its weird but you just know dont you but anyway as i thought he had stopped, i stopped aswell and as i turned to look look at him on my right i reaslised that i was not standing next to him, instead i was standing next to a dark figure, a figure i have now discovered to fit the description of a shadow person, i think they had a hood on it was hard to tell as it was so dark but it was so weird, as i turned myhead so did it and for literally 2 seconds no more i was face to face with it i just had this awful feeling of dread come over me and at that point i realised that my friend was still walking down the path so without saying a word i just ran and ended up crashing into the back of him. my friends still take the micky and think im mad but i know what i saw it felt so real! i have been down that path many times since and often look at the area i saw this person (slightly off the path by the bushes) but ive never seen anything since. when i think back to it it still scares me slightly and i’ll always remember the way we both turned our heads and faced eachother, or at least, thats how it felt!

I live in constant fear of this happening again:
Back when my husband and I were dating, I was living with my
grandparents. They are both devout Catholics, and have had their home
blessed by several priests with whom they are quite close and
friendly. Nonetheless, one night, I awoke to find a black figure
standing by my bed. It was entirely black, and seemed to absorb all of
the small amount of light which was in the room. I immediately tried
to scream, but found myself unable to make any noise at all. I tried
to rise and flee from my bed, but was also unable to move…I couldn’t
even breathe. As I attempted to struggle, I started to feel faint, and
eventually my vision was lost to what seemed like an all-encompassing
bright white light, and I lost conciousness. All the while, the thing just stood there, looking at me. It was one of the most
frightening moments of my life, and I don’t know what to do.
My brother with whom I am very close has also had dealings with these shadow men, to
the point that one night he was beaten rather badly by one while he slept over at a friend’s house.

I see shadow people all the time. Usually looking around corners, but lately, he (one in particular seems to be a prankster), has been popping up from beside a chair near my TV. Even tho i cannot see his face, i can see that hes looking at me, its like he playing hide n seek. there are also time that he is right next to me, my son sees him alot also,

I have noticed that I have aquired a second cat, though he is all shadow. I only see him in the peripheral. I’ll see it run into the bathroom while I my cat was in the back bedroom. For awhile I thought it was just my cat… have you heard about shadow animals?

one day i was asleep amd idk it seemed as if i were awake. i could see myself laying down from a distance and all of a sudden i heard footsteps coming from my hallway and i saw a black shadow hovering over me and then it was shaking me in my dream but i couldnt wake myself up and i saw it happening to me like idk it was something that never happened to me before..

When I was a young boy,probaly around 5-7 ?, I would lay down @ night for bed and when I would look upwards towards the ceiling I would see this Lions Spirithead coming towards me @ a very fast speed and straight @ my face and then @ the very last milisecond it would swoop right over the top of my face,sometimes I swore that I could feel the wind from it. Nobody ever believed me so I`ve keep it inside for @ least the last 40yrs. Fly FREE my friend FLY FREE!

I came across your web-site, and find the information given eerily similar to what my son has experienced.
In our previous home, when he was approx. 2 years of age, he would continually talk about these “shadowy people” that he said would come into his room at night, and wake him up, and bug him by calling his name or bumping his bed.
He would call out to me in tears and beg to sleep in my room.
I would let him get into bed with me, and he would tell me about these “shadowy people” he was seeing.
He said he “didn’t like them, and that “they were scary”, and that they “weren’t nice”.
He told me that they would come through the walls, ceiling, floor etc
I told him to tell them to leave if they scared him again. He said he would try that the next night if they came again..
A few days passed and he stopped talking about it until one night he woke up in tears. I could hear him yelling from his room “go away, leave me alone”. He got louder and began crying.
I went into him in his room, and asked who he was talking to.
He told me “the shadow people”.
He told me that he had told them to leave, but they wouldn’t, that they only left because I was coming.
Then he told me that they told him…and he said this in a deep creepy voice, “Open the door”.
Chills went up my spine.
He slept with me that night and for a few days.
I went to see an owner of a metaphysical shop that I had been going to for many years. I mentioned the situation to the owner.
The owner gave me some candles and a ritual to perform.
I never mentioned any of this to my son, and the morning after I performed the ritual he woke up happy and said, “Mommy, mommy guess what? The shadow people are gone, my angel told me you closed the door”.
My son is 6 years old now, and even though we now live in a different home, he still speaks of these shadow people from time to time. He still says that they aren’t nice and that they scare him sometimes, but that he’s not much scared of them anymore.

When I was 12 years old, I had a frightening experience in the middle of the night. I was having a bad nightmare. All of a sudden, I was wide awake only to see a large black form standing beside my bed. It didn’t have a shape to it. It just looked like a large shadow with no face! I was frozen for what seemed like an eternity, but was probably about 5 seconds. I coudn’t speak or move. Then, with all of my will power I found my voice and screamed as loud as I could. My mother and sister came running to my bedside about as frightened as I was. I was led to believe that it was just a bad nightmare. A few years later after we moved from the house. which was 150 years old, my mother asked if I remembered the incident. She then proceeded to tell me that the figure I had seen at my bedside was seen by everyone in the house. Everyone said that it appeared by their bedside, as if it was looking for something. When it came to my bedside, I was what it was looking for. Could this be a shadow person or something else? There were other spirits in the house, but not as frightening as this.

I’m not sure if this qualifies as a shadow figure, but I thought I would share this story. Around 1992 I was a police officer in a small Texas town. On one snowy night, I received a call about an intruder/break-in of a home. I interviewed a child who told me he awoke to find a tall, thin man wearing a top hat standing at the foot of his bed. He screamed and the figure “floated” into the hallway. The boys father woke and saw the figure exit the backdoor of the house. Upon my arrival, the backdoor was locked and there were no foot prints in the snow. The father also described the figure as tall, thin, wearing a top hat and perhaps a dinner coat with tails. I still get goosebumps when I think about that night.

the house i am living at now has a lot of negative emotional energy. the reason being for this is that everyone in the home has an emotional disturbance of some form or another. about a month ago my friends and i started seeing a dark figure walk past our windows. i have heard that shadow people dont like the day but all my personal expierences of seeing them were in broad daylight. Besides us seeing this figure, whenever there is a sighting everyone in the house has trouble sleeping. two of the girls in the home heard distinct growling from the broom closet. and although i personally did not hear it i know it happened because these two girls hate each other and would never back each other up on anything unless they both expierenced it. our front porch light has turned on by itself. the other day my phone dialed my voice mail by itself in the middle of the night. just all around we dont feel comfortable. another time recently my ipod charger and my friends ipod went missing and when we found it my charger had been ripped in two and there were bite marks on the part that plugs into the ipod. my friends ipod wouldnt charge yet when we found it it was completely charged. We have heard people call our names when noone was around. im not sure if they follow you or not but i have seen this figure everywhere i have lived and i can only help but think it is my fault for their presence. it is getting to the point that it is nerve-racking and we are at our wits end.

We live in the country , a small farm in Ohio. There is a shadow man here , he has been seen by everyone in the family including last night my 22 month old grandson and his mother as they recently moved home .
Our farm is on land that was part of a battle between peaceful indians and the settlers that were intermarried into their tribes and the US army . The entire settlement was murdered and the trading post burned . The white settlers fought WITH the indians and died with them.
We have two ghosts thay we have interacting with , an elderly native man and a young native girl.
But the shadowman is causing a problem with my grandbaby, he’s scared at night . He is scary , he pops out of the same corners, pacing in twilight passing and around our house looking in the windows and doorways.
watches us at night …
I’ve seen them all my life but he is bold.

If you think you have a ghost in your home, your best bet is to find a reliable local paranormal group or researcher to come and assess the environment. Every situation has to be evaluated individually. Most groups have websites — you can find them by searching for your area — and the best will always have references.

When I was younger, around 9 years old. I remember staying with my grandparents during my parents divorce with my mother and 2 brothers. My grandfather and his father built the house. Every evening for almost 5 months, starting at dinner time. I can vividly remember looking down the long dark hallway (at the end were two bedrooms, and then the hallway sharply turned left towards the bathroom at the end) as I ate, and seeing an ugly, dark green creatures head, and hands and fingers, a hand on each side of the head with the fingers curling around the corner peeking at me nonstop for hours. I can remember a long but rounded at the end nose not pointed most of all. It would only look at me, noone else saw it, it would be gone if he light in the hallway turned on. I used to get yelled at for always having the light on. I estimate the creature to be only 3 feet tall. Pictures i have seen can only be similar in stature to a troll, or a demon called Beezelbub, but It would scare me to death. I never told a soul until now, because I truly believe it was there. Any insight to what this could have been or mean? thanks-eric

This does not fit the “classic” profile of Shadow Person, but it may fit into a satellite category around them, of short-stature ugly beings with defined characteristics, as opposed to blank silhouettes. They may belong to a class of fairies, who exhibit great curiosity of children, and may have been especially curious about food, since it showed up at dinner time. You may have been the only one int he family with the right sensitivity for seeing the creature.
One possible explanation is that the building of the house disturbed the territory of such a being, and it was able to come into the house and check out the occupants. Another explanation is that it was a Djinn, which shape-shift into a variety of guises and often are confused with fairies and demons. From your description it did not have hostile intentions, but just looked scary. Turning the lights on often dispels the energy of a wide variety of otherworldly visitors. You don’t say what happened, but I’d guess that eventually it stopped showing up, or the experiences stopped when you moved.

I have seen shadows, but not really in the shape of a person. a common occurance is undefined blobs, about the size of a quarter, darting around my dimmly lit bedroom. There are a ton. I’m talking all over my walls. I have recently seen what seems to be like something trying to manifest: A bunch of small particles pulsating or swirling, with no definite shape, out of the corner of my eye. I have been seeing the shadowy figures for 5 years now. The most intense sighting was about 3 years ago. I was laying in bed with my daughter, and i saw something moving by my cracked open bathroom door. I looked and nothing was there. I noticed movement looked again, and nothing was there. I looked away and in my peripheral vision I saw a dark outline of the shoulders, neck, head and brimmed hat of a person. It jumped across the wall, in a sporadic manor, to my closet. I am uneasy now because my children have seen figures. My oldest described something with a monkey’s tail moving back and forth. My younger 2 yr old had her eyes fixed on a bare wall for a long period of time during bedtime. I layed next to her and she started saying “no, no NO!” while swatting along the top of my head. (like trying to stop something from touching my head) Last night my dog started barking angrily at like 3 am. I petted her to calm her, but she began barking again. She was barking in the direction of an armoire that has my tv in it. It not in the same direction of my door or window. she was clearly barking at the tv. She barked for a third time, looked up over her head, as if following something over our bed. She then layed back down and went to sleep. The activity seems more intense after fights or after something bad happens. We have lived and visited several different houses, and see the figures at every location. They often frighten my oldest child, who has been seeing things since she was an infant. I would notice her staring at a bare wall as a baby for extended amounts of time. She is a normal child (no autism or anything like that) . I have casted them out in the name of the Father and Christ and have ultimately been ignoring them. They always show back up.

Shadow People also manifest as blobs, pillars and indistinct black masses of varying sizes. I have many reports of such activity that seems to follow people around wherever they go. The phenomena may go away after some time (although it can be years). Few things seem to get rid of them for good – as you say, they come back. No one knows why they show up in the first place or what they want, but they seem to want to know things about human beings. If you find remedies that at least provide temporary relief, that’s good.

My encounter with a Shadow Person occurred 20 years ago in the small northwestern town of Kane Pa. It was in December and very cold. I was staying for an overnight visit with a relative. I was sleeping in the back parlor of the home with only a small wood burning stove for heat. During the night, I awoke freezeing as the stove had extingquished and I had only a small thin blanket for warmth. By the side of my bed was a solid black figure. I could make out a head , shoulders and torso (looked just like the black sillouette gun targets you see on firing ranges) Surprisingly, I was not afraid but felt an overpowering sense of comfort and love. I became very relaxed as the figure began tucking the small blanket around my legs. I soon fell back to sleep not waking till morning.

As a medium I see many a shadow person. If and when you happen upon them (they really don’t like detection due to the fact that they are sneaky) always “counter” them by envisioning an angel, your angel or as many as you feel you need.

I’ve encountered shadow people all the time. They appear to be male in form, based upon the silhoutte. They have no face, just black. The first encounter I was sleep, but it seems I was able to see myself and it outside of my sleep. Fear came over me and I couldn’t move or talk. I struggled to murmur the words, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus and it finally released it’s hold on me. This has happened twice in this manner. the other time I was lying in bed watching television and one appeared on the bathroom door near the top andthis silhouette was definitely that of a male, possibly bald. My husband was bald, so I thought maybe it was his shadow casting as he was walking towards the room. It wasn’t him as the shadow was still and when I got up to see where my husband was, it disappeared and my husband was down stairs. Now I may see them from my peripheral and when I try to see them clearly by turning towards them, they disappear. I NEVER get a good feeling when they are around. Sort of evil, darl feeling.
