DRAGON*CON
This year’s Dragon*Con in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend was extra special with the personal appearances of Star Trek superstars William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Patrick Stewart and Kate Mulgrew. As a long-time Trekkie, I absolutely had to have my photo taken with Nimoy and Shatner. Worth the wait!

My third Dragon*Con was busy and fun, with panels on the Dark Fantasy, X and Writer’s tracks, on vampires, the Tarot, paranormal research, ghost stories, and dark folklore. Steampunk – one of my favorites looks – was everywhere and the costumes, as usual, were great.

UPDATE ON SPIRIT COMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH
At the Dragon*Con panel on paranormal research, I discussed some of my latest work in progress. I continue to do haunted places investigations, but a significant amount of my time is devoted to “next level” research involving real-time spirit communications and evidence for portals, the openings between out dimension and parallel dimensions.

Author Fiona Broome and I talked about our mapping of paranormal-active places, including hauntings – that there are identifiable, geophysical characteristics that can predict or identify places that are likely to have such activity. Fiona has done some excellent mapping in the Salem, MA area, concerning haunted places, such as sites associated with the witch trials of 1692-93.

I have long felt that certain geophysical characteristics are significantly associated with “broad spectrum” paranormal phenomena, including a range of things such as mysterious lights, UFOs, ET/alien/entity contact, mysterious creatures, hauntings, time distortions, and so forth. Negative magnetic anomalies, the presence of mine tunnels, and a high content of ore and minerals in the soil (gold, silver, magnetite, iron, quartz, etc.) are among the most notable signatures. Also the presence of large bodies of water, such as lakes, reservoirs and big rivers. These may be part of the environmental factors that thin out the boundaries between parallel dimensions, making extraordinary experiences more likely. Other environmental factors, which fluctuate, include seasons, times of day/night, lunar phases and so on. Research has been done in these areas, and I think we need to do more to build identifiable patterns.

I have also been looking at who has experiences, and even what type of experiences they are likely to have at such places.

In addition, I have been pursuing real-time spirit communications with my radio scan devices (popularly known as Frank’s Boxes and the MinBox), and have been getting interesting and compelling results. These include not just voice communications, but signal transmissions, and trace evidence of particles theoretically emitted when wormholes are formed. I am also experimenting with certain sound tones and radio frequencies. I have the good fortune to work closely with a number of individuals around the country who have not only interest in spirit communications and portals, but have exceptional technical and scientific knowledge to apply to original equipment design and applications.

My up-to-the-minute findings will be reported periodically on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, and will be featured in the spirit communications book I am co-authoring with George, due out next year in hardcover from Tor.

Ghosthunting Pennsylvania has been published by Clerissy Press. This is part of their America’s Haunted Road Trip state-by-state series. PA is loaded with great haunted sites, and for years it has been practically my second home. The book features 30 main sites around the state, a list of others, and sidebars on interesting haunted places and PA supernatural lore. NEW DVD RELEASE
The Possessed is out from the Booth Brothers’ Spooked TV Productions. I’m one of the experts featured in it, commenting on the famous Watseka Possession that occurred in Illinois in the 19th century, when a dead girl took over the body and personality of a living girl who had been her neighbor. Also featured are modern possession cases, including some chilling segments on the Anneliese Michelle case in Germany in the 1970s, which resulted in Michelle’s death. EVENTS AND APPEARANCES
Fall season is always busy for me. In September I will be at the Mothman Festival in Pt. Pleasant, WV (my topic is ultraterrestrials) and in Banstable, MA at the Cape Community College, doing the monthly lecture feature for the Cape and Islands Paranormal Research Society (my topic is demons).
