Greetings for the new year! I hope the coming months will bring peace, prosperity and happiness to everyone. It’s always refreshing to have the feeling of a clean slate.

My year ahead is already substantially committed to investigations, conferences and events, and new book projects. First, some news, then some highlights of things coming up – and finally a personal story about the Ouija, the topic of one of my books in progress!

NEWS
My Encyclopedia of Demons & Demonology has gone back to press twice since its publication in September by Facts On File. In all the reference works I have done to date (nine encyclopedias and one atlas) this is unprecedented. It surely indicates the intense interest out there in the dark side of the paranormal.

FATE Magazine has reorganized and is back better than ever, with bimonthly hard print issues and a newly redesigned website, www.fatemag.com. I have a blog on the website – check out my first article, on the archangel Gabriel. Here’s the link to the blog – bookmark it!

TAPS Paramagazine also is undergoing a reorganization, and is under the new editorship of my friend and colleague, Scotty Roberts. I am continuing as columnist with “Rosemary’s Baby” and will become a staff writer as well.

Development projects are underway in my production company, Pathways Media, formed in partnership last year with Denise Beauchaine. Last summer we filmed a documentary on the stone chambers in upstate New York, featuring Philip J. Imbrogno. That is now in post production. We’ll be getting my friend and colleague John Zaffis involved in some projects, too!

COMING UP
I’m presenting at the first ever virtual paranormal conference, The Supernatural Summit, hosted by Mark Nesbitt of Ghosts of Gettysburg fame. The summit goes live February 19-21, but attendees actually get to access all the presentations and materials for an entire month. More than 50 hours of presentations for $50! Attend at your leisure! I will present on demons and demonology, and coordinate a program on vampires with Katherine Ramsland. This is a brilliant concept for bringing the best of a conference right to your home, saving you the time and considerable expense of traveling to a distant location. Check it out –

Check my calendar at http://www.visionaryliving.com for my upcoming radio shows and personal appearances. I will present at EPICON in Virginia Beach in March; Troy Taylor’s conferences in Decatur, IL in June and Barnstable, MA in August; at the Dracula Con II in Windber, PA in May; at a special fund raiser for Greene County, PA in Waynesburg in April; at Spirit Day in May in Camp Hill, PA, and of course, my annual favorite, Dragon Con in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend. Lots more, including many investigations! I am also working with Ray Couch of Southern Ghosts to participate in some of his weekend haunted tours.

I have releases of new books this fall – Talking to the Dead co-authored with George Noory, host of Coast to Coast AM, about spirit communications, and Djinn: The Hidden Ones, co-authored with ufologist Philip J. Imbrogno.

A Weird Ouija Story
I am at work on a book about the Ouija with Rick Fisher, and we have collected hundreds of bizarre stories. My own will go into the mix now as well. Here’s what happened:

I attended a Halloween party last fall at the home of Phil Imbrogno, and he asked me to bring along one of my Ouija boards in case we wanted to hold a mini-seance. I have about a dozen boards, old and new. One of my favorites is a board from the 1960s, found in its original box at a yard sale by my sister, Linda, who lives in Washington state. She bought it three years ago. Oddly, when it arrived in my mail, the pointer was missing. Linda said she knew it had been in the original box with the board when she packed it up and mailed it. There were no signs of the shipping carton having been opened, and thorough searches at Linda’s home and even mine yielded nothing. Pointer – gone!

On the evening of the party, I decided to take that board and substitute a pointer from one of my other boards. All of them were sitting in a packing box – I had moved from Maryland to my present home in Connecticut. When I retrieved the board, I got a shock. I heard a rattling in the Ouija box – and found its original pointer. Three years after having gone missing, it had reappeared in its box!

I have to admit, it gave me a bit of a chill. The party was the first time since acquiring that board that I got it out to actually use it. Now everything was intact. As it turned out, we did not use it at the party – but I told Phil we have to experiment with it now, because it’s “haunted.”

If you have a Ouija story you would like to share for the book, email me at reguiley@gmail.com.

Thank you, and have a wonderful year! See you with another edition of the newsletter in February.
